The broad sandy beaches of Fuengirola and Los Boliches offer heaps of facilities, restaurants, sports, showers and toilets. Carvajal, Gaviotas, Boliches, San Francisco, Santa Amalia and Castillo beaches beckon. Chiringuitos line the beachfront with delicious smells of ‘Sardinas al Speto’ (Sardines on the spit) wafting out along the promenade. All serve tasty traditional Southern Spanish seaside dishes, such as Gazpacho, sardines on the spit, paella and pescaito frito (mixed fried fish platter). Fuengirola is one of the most popular holiday destinations on the Costa del Sol Easily accessible by road, rail or bus, it is not difficult to see why this buzzing cosmopolitan town on the Mediterranean is the number one choice for so many.
Over the centuries the area has been occupied by the Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Romans and Moors. The history records date back to 2 B.C.
The town is dominated by the old Moorish castle, Castillo Sohail, which sits atop a hill just outside the town. In ancient times the area was known as Suel and then Suhayl, hence the castle’s name.
Roman remains have also been found in sites in around Fuengirola and can be found in the Museo de Historia (History Museum) in the town.
The Castillo de Sohail is located right at the mouth of the Fuengirola River, on a small isolated hill that rises 38m above sea-level and next to the Costa Del Sol Motorway making it a privileged lookout point with stunning views over the coastal area dominated by the Sierra de Mijas Mountains.
AquaMijas offers fun for everyone, with all kinds of attractions slides, children's pool, island lizards, Kamikaze, Rio Bravo, Rio Adventure, Labyrinths, Soft Tracks, Jacuzzi ... and the latest attraction, the Crazy Loop.

Fuengirola Port (Puerto Deportivo de Fuengirola) is a hive of activity all year round and it offers a full range of facilities to the public. It is also a very popular area for outdoor café culture and has excellent terrace restaurants incorporating bars offering an interesting night life.
The market is held on a Tuesday and Saturday at the fair ground in between Fuengirola and Los Boliches.
The market opens around 8:30 to 9:00am and finishes around 3:00pm.
The Multiadventure Park is at the foot of the Sohail Castle and the start of the Fuengirola River, where you can enjoy some good leisure activities, such as the Zip Line, (one of the fastest in Spain), pedal boat ride , kayaks, paddle surf, etc.
